Illinois' May 12 update included more than 4,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, and more than 100 additional deaths.In the state's daily COVID-19 report, 4,014 new infections were reported across Illinois, along with 144 deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus. Illinois' COVID-19 cases now total 83,021, with 3,601 deaths.
LOCAL CASE UPDATES (7:30pm)
Effingham County Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Six overall positive cases of COVID-19, with four recoveries and one death.
Egyptian Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Total COVID-19 positive cases stands at 10, with 9 recoveries.
Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department:
- Five new cases reported – two women in their 40s and two women in their 50s in Williamson County, and one woman in her 60s from Franklin County.
- Total COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 50, with 31 recoveries and one death in Williamson County, 11 cases with eight recoveries in Franklin County.
Jackson County Health Department:
- One new case - a woman in her 40s.
- Jackson County's total positive test count is now 169, with 112 recoveries and ten deaths.
Jefferson County Public Health Department:
- One new positive case – a woman in her 80s.
- Overall there have been 100 positive cases of COVID-19, with 73 recoveries and 14 deaths.
Marion County Health Department
- One new positive case – a man in his 20s.
- Overall, there have been 48 positive cases of COVID-19, with 29 recoveries.
Perry County Health Department:
- No new cases reported.
- Overall, 38 positive cases of COVID-19, with 18 recoveries.
Randolph County Health Department:
- Seven new cases reported
- 71 active cases reported, with 65 isolating at home and six hospitalized
- Overall, 232 positive cases of COVID-19, with 158 recoveries and three deaths.
Richland County Public Health Department:
- No new cases reported
- Overall, three positive cases of COVID-19, with three recoveries.
Southern Seven Health Department:
- One new case reported - a woman in her 50s from Alexander County.
- Overall, Southern Seven reports 108 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 44 recoveries and one death.
