Southern Illinois was represented as part of the Illinois House Republicans' "Emerging Women Leaders" event at the State Capitol.

Representative Dave Severin from Benton hosted Christen Drew, the owner of Café Bloom and La Galarie in Benton as well as Jamie Storey and Madison Moser from the Greater Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.

"We're excited to have those three ladies here to participate in this and be honored and to meet other ladies throughout the state that are leaders," Severin said.

Dozens of women from around the State of Illinois came to Springfield to participate in a day long event that included listening sessions and meeting with Supreme Court Justice Lisa Holder White and the first-ever female leader of a General Assembly caucus, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie.
