A new agreement could mean good things for the World Shooting and Recreational Complex

Sign

Legislation in Springfield could be good news for the future of a recreational complex in southern Illinois.

Senator Terri Bryant from Murphysboro is applauding a bill allowing the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to enter into a public/private partnership to operate the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta.

"It's a very important asset to the State of Illinois. I appreciate (Senate) President Harmon helping us to get through bringing this to a place where it's a public-private partnership. Although I beat up on him quite often, I do also want to thank the governor for allowing us to enter into these conversations as well."

The agreement would open up avenues to develop, finance, lease, manage, and operate the facility.

The measure now heads back to the House for final legislative action.
