Governor JB Pritzker announced that construction will begin on the $3.15 million Applied Technology Center at Olney Central College.
The new facility will include additions to the college's nursing and radiography programs. It will also feature new classrooms, simulation and skill labs, faculty office space, and a student lounge.
Radiology students will also have access to an energized lab on campus.
Governor Pritzker said, "The Applied Technology Center at Olney Central College will enhance healthcare education in southeastern Illinois, equipping students with state-of-the-art tools and hands-on learning to build a stronger, more resilient healthcare workforce for the region."
The new center will also support other health programs like Licensed Practical Nursing, Message Therapy, Phlebotomy, and the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Certificate.
Funded through the Rebuild Illinois capital program, the initiative will also collaborate with the Capital Development Board.
The Applied Technology Center will begin construction this year.
