IDOT is looking for your input on the Southwest Connector project.

It's a project that's been talked about one way or another for more nearly 60 years. Connecting the region around Jackson county to the St. Louis area by 4 lanes.

The most recent and current project to connect Murphysboro with Waterloo has been being studied since 2016.

A coalition of the four counties along the corridor issued a report in 2019. The Illinois Department of Transportation launched a virtual public meeting at the end of July that runs through August 18. They're asking for feedback on the corridor connecting Illinois routes 13/127 from Murphysboro to 154 in Pinkneyville to 3 in Red Bud where it continues to Waterloo.

Carrie Nelsen, IDOT's project manager for the study and Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens who is chairing the project's task force building talk about the project and how you can help.

Go to the project's website here to provide feedback and find out more information: https://www.southwestconnector.com/
