The city of Vienna has a new program to motivate people to build new homes within the city.
In January the Vienna City Council passed the New Home Development Program that reimburses up to $10,000 for new home construction.
The city sat aside $50,000 from their TIF funds to start the program.
Vienna Mayor Steve Penrod says there’s a 270 day time limit to finish construction on the new home.
“You don't get the money until you finish the construction, so it has to be, you know, a home that can be occupied and so we're hoping that the builders developers, you know, will take advantage of that as well as individual families or families.”
The home must be located within city limits and be at least 1,200 square foot, mobile and modular homes do not qualify for the program.
