Springfield, IL – The state of Illinois is among the nation's leaders in obtaining federal transportation dollars to repair roads and maintain thousands of jobs.
Illinois has received approval for federal funding of 249 road and bridge projects, worth 606 million dollars. That's more than any other state according to Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson Marisa Kollias.
It's estimated the projects started with this first chunk of federal money will sustain about nine thousand jobs in Illinois.
