Carbondale, IL – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced funding for a southern Illinois water district.
The Millstone Water District is receiving a just over $769,000 grant and a nearly $1.5 million loan through Rural Development's Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.
The funding will allow Millstone to renovate two pump stations and extend service to 44 new users in Johnson County and replace nine sections of waterline in Pope and Johnson counties.
The $2.2 million project was started with a previous grant of nearly $13,000 and over $10,000 of local contributions.
