A grass roots movement to help people with criminal records achieve opportunities is sponsoring a statewide campaign tomorrow, Juneteenth, to raise awareness of the issue.

In Carbondale, the Beyond the Walls Movement, along with other human rights advocates, is launching the Fully Free Campaign to End Permanent Punishments, Saturday at 3PM at Attucks Park.

Quianya Enge, Founder of Beyond the Walls says work needs to be done to end legal penalties for people once they get out of prison. These barriers include trouble getting jobs, housing and education.

According to the Fully Free Campaign, more than 3.3 million people in Illinois, who were formerly in the criminal legal system, are impacted.
