State Officials Urge Fun and Safe 4th of July Celebrations

With excitement brewing over the first Independence Day Celebrations since COVID-19, towns planning public displays need to be careful when choosing a vendor.

Bob Wetzel is with the office of the State Fire Marshal.
"But the most important thing is to verify that they are licensed that the insurance is in good shape and the people who are doing the display are truly qualified"

There are several legal fireworks private individuals can use, IF your city allows them.

"Things like low level aerial shells, ground fountains, things like that make a nice display, can be done, but only under a local jurisdictional permit."

You can find more information by visiting the office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
