Authorities have determined the body found in a Carbondale residence Tuesday night was murdered.

Carbondale Police say 26-year-old Gloria Hopkins of Carbondale, was the victim of a domestic incident with her husband, 27-year-old Gregory Hopkins of Cape Girardeau.

Gloria Hopkins' body was found in her residence in the 1100 block of East College Street.

Investigators worked with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office and obtained an arrest warrant for Gregory Hopkins for charges of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery.

They determined he fled from Carbondale and traveled to the Los Angeles, California area.

Los Angeles Police Department officers located Gregory Hopkins and arrested him on Thursday.

He is currently incarcerated in Los Angeles, awaiting extradition back to Jackson County.
