Agents with the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation have arrested two Carbondale residents as part of the investigation into the death of a three-year-old girl.

They say 45-year-old Isaac Hill and 41-year-old Katrina Simelton are charged with Child Endangerment.

On Wednesday, the Carbondale Police Department requested State Police investigate the death of the child. She was taken to a local area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

State Police notified the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services of the investigation. An autopsy was conducted in Bloomington on Thursday.

The two arrests are the result of a collaborative effort by State Police investigators, Carbondale Police, DCFS, the Jackson County Coroner’s Office and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office.
