A teenager faces multiple charges and possibly more after an incident Thursday in Mt. Vernon.

The Mt Vernon Police Department responded to reports of armed robberies on June 30th and July 2nd. Both involved a person buying, selling or trading merchandise on Facebook Messenger.

On both dates, the victim arrived at the residence at 1009 Welkins expecting to make a transaction but was instead robbed at gun point.

On Thursday evening, while detectives conducted surveillance in the area, they observed a 17-year-old male arrive at the residence.

As detectives attempted to make contact with him, he began to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended.

Detectives found a loaded Glock 27 handgun and items previously reported stolen during the previous armed robberies.

The 17-year-old faces charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest. Charges related to the armed robberies are still under investigation.
