Two-time Olympian Deanna Price will not defend her world title in the hammer throw.
Price announced on social media Saturday she tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
The former Saluki said that came on the heels of days of vomiting, diarrhea and a fever.
Price said the ordeal caused her to lose 12 pounds and left her physically and mentally drained.
She said after feeling better, a practice session confirmed she was not ready to compete on a world stage.
This is the latest setback in what has been a challenging 12 months for Price with some major health issues.
Last August, she went through total ankle reconstruction and last September hip labrum surgery.
Price captured the last world hammer throw championship in 2019.
