An accident at Herrin House of Hope this week resulted in the loss of a long-time volunteer and extensive damage to their building. The Herrin Chamber of Commerce is now reaching out on the organization's behalf to ask for volunteers from the community. Volunteers are needed for assistance as they clean up the damaged facility.
They will gather at House of Hope until 2pm today (Thursday) and welcome any volunteers that are willing to help in the clean-up.
Volunteers are also welcome tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. to help serve meals. They confirmed on their Facebook page that they will be open and serving lunch tomorrow (Friday) from 11am to 1pm. Due to the damage of the kitchen, they must limit the menu offering until repairs to the kitchen can be made.
Herrin House of Hope has served free daily meals to the community for over ten years.
It is a cooperative Christian ministry of Herrin's churches, businesses and ordinary people committed to giving hope for those who are struggling in life.
