New Carbondale Police Chief of Police Anthony Copeland was sworn in Tuesday.

Retired Chief Reno, and now City Manager Reno, welcomed him to the Department and the City of Carbondale.

In a video posted on the Carbondale Police Department Facebook page, Copeland said he stands by a pillar of accountability.

Since 2018, Copeland has held the role of Assistant Chief of Police in Paducah.

The search for a new police chief in Carbondale started back in March after former Chief Reno was named the new City Manager in late January.
