A pair of former Salukis will compete in the women's hammer throw at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
DeAnna Price and Gwen Berry finished tied for 2nd in Wednesday's Olympic trials at the University of Oregon.
Price, the two-time defending NCAA hammer throw champion, was leading the competition until the final attempt when 35-year-old Amber Campbell threw a personal best of 74.03 meters...out-distancing Berry who tied Price at 73.09 meters on her last attempt.
Price is currently a graduate student at SIU-C. Berry competed for the Salukis from 2007-2011.
Another former Saluki, Jeneva Stevens, finished 6th in the hammer throw competition, not enough to qualify for the Olympics. But, the 2012 SIU graduate still has a chance to make the U.S. team when she competes in the shot put competition on Thursday.
Chester native and current Saluki Kyle Landon competes in the high jump on Friday.
