The SIU football team added 18 new players in the early signing period Wednesday.
Thesigning class features nine offensive players, including four wide receivers and nine defensive players, including five defensive backs.
Head Coach Nick Hill says this is a great class that features players with high football I-Q's who take their work seriously on and off the field.
"We're not a babysitting service. We've got to weed through those and we've got to ask the right questions. We look at how many times they have been late to school. How many times have they been late to weights? Usually, those things don't change. They might change a little bit, but they don't change completely."
While there are no players from southern Illinois, five players did play high school ball in the state and three others are from the St. Louis area.
The Salukis narrowly missed the playoffs after a seven win season in 2019.
