Former SIU assistant women's basketball coach Kat Martin will join Saluki Athletics as director of development, the SIU Foundation announced today.
As director of development, Martin will work to generate support for the athletic department and advance the Salukis Unleashed fundraiser campaign as a part of the Imagine SIU 2030 strategic plan.
The goal of Salukis Unleashed is to enhance Saluki Athletics' revenue by $100 million over 10 years.
Martin has spent the last four years coaching the Westminster Academy girls basketball team in St. Louis, compiling a 73-20 record.
From 2013-2017, she was the recruiting coordinator for Saluki Women's Basketball who helped sign Kylie Giebelhausen and the 2021 MVC regular season women's basketball championship senior class.
"We are so pleased to welcome Kat back to SIU," said Todd Reeser, executive deputy athletics director for development. "She has had great success as a coach, as well as in her previous role as a development professional. Kat's infectious personality will advance relationships with our outstanding Saluki fans and supporters, while helping to propel the bold vision for the athletics program. With her strong ties to SIU and the region, combined with her passion for student-athletes, she is simply a perfect fit."
An Ontario, Canada, native, Martin began her career at Kishwaukee College, before becoming the recruiting coordinator for women's basketball at SIU.
Martin earned a master of science in sports administration from Northern Illinois University, and a bachelor's degree in sport and wellness from Trinity International, where she was also a member of the women's basketball team.
