Jobs are up in most Metro areas of Illinois in October.
Total non-farm jobs increased in eleven metropolitan areas and decreased in three according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
In the Carbondale-Marion metro area, jobs increased by 400 year over year from 58,900 to 59,300.
The unemployment rate increased from 3.8 percent in October 2022 to 4.4 percent last month.
Jobless rates were up across southern Illinois, with the exception of Pope County, where the rate dropped from four to 3.8 percent.
Edwards County had the largest increase with an unemployment rate at 5.3 percent, up from four percent last year.
