The unemployment rates were up year over year in most southern Illinois counties in February.
According to data released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Union and Edwards counties were the only ones to see their rates drop, both by one-tenth of a percent.
The largest increase was in Hardin County, where the unemployment rate jumped from 5.0 to 5.9 percent.
Overall in the Carbondale-Marion metro area, the rate went up from 4.5 to 4.9 percent.
Total non-farm jobs increased slightly in the metro area, with the largest gain in government jobs.
