Employment rose among Natural Resources-Mining, Government and the Leisure-Hospitality and Information sectors.
Payrolls declined among employers in Trade-Transportation-Utilities, Private Education-Health Services, Construction, Financial Activities and Manufacturing.
Over-the-year, the unemployment rate increased in all fourteen metropolitan areas.
The rate went up over a percentage point in the Carbondale-Marion metro area...moving from 4.7 percent to 5.8 percent.
The rate increased in all southern Illinois counties. The largest jump was in Hardin County, where the rate went from 6.2 to 8.2 percent.
