Staff from the office of Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza will distribute 150 turkeys and canned goods for Thanksgiving meals to residents in Cairo on Friday.

The meals are made possible by donations from Laborers’ Local 773 in Marion. They will be distributed from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday at Rise Community Market in Cairo.

This is the seventh year the Illinois Office of Comptroller has distributed Thanksgiving meals to Cairo families.

IOC employees in Chicago and Springfield have also collected items including canned goods and toiletries that will be donated to the Cairo Women’s Shelter.
