John A. Logan College is in the process of unveiling a new mascot.
The new mascot is a horse designed to embody the spirit of the horses ridden by General Logan during his time as a Union Army General in the Civil War.
School officials say the choice of a horse as the college mascot symbolizes General Logan’s valor and his enduring legacy in education and public service, honoring the historical significance of the college’s namesake.
The horse mascot is set to become a central figure in college events, athletics, recruiting activities, and community events.
John A. Logan College will seek public input to name the new mascot through the fall 2024 semester. Voting will begin on August 12.
Students will be emailed a link to vote; others can visit the college website.
Individuals will have four choices, and the name will be unveiled at the kickoff to the Spring 2025 semester.
