The Carbondale Branch of the NAACP will hold its 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast on Monday, January 19, at 7:30 a.m. in the Southern Illinois University Student Center.
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., followed by the program featuring keynote speaker Everick Turner, a retired Illinois Department of Corrections warden. The event will also honor winners of the King Essay Contest. Proceeds from the event benefit the branch's scholarship fund.
