An officer-involved shooting led to a man's death early Wednesday afternoon in rural Williamson County.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Department reports the officer responded to a call for service around 12:45 p.m. on Devils Fork Road in the western part of the county.

When the deputy arrived, a man started approaching his patrol vehicle and pulled out a rifle.

The man failed to comply when the deputy ordered him to drop the weapon multiple times.

The deputy fired his weapon after the man pointed his weapon at the deputy and continuing to advance toward his position. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
