Carterville body identified

The body found in a backyard in Carterville this week has been identified as 35-year-old Alvin Thomas of Carterville.

Carterville Police say Thomas' body was found in the 100 block of Timber Trail Monday morning.

The body was removed from the scene and taken to the Williamson County Coroner's office morgue in Marion. An autopsy on the body is scheduled for Thursday.

Foul play is not suspected.
