The Illinois Department of Corrections is holding hiring events throughout the state this month.
The job fairs are in locations like West Frankfort and Ina.
Department recruitment coordinator Brittany Ott says they need corrections officers, nurses and social workers and that there are opportunities for advancement.
"So, you can start in an entry level position and you can promote within the agency into various other departments. We also have some really great salary and benefits. We are very competitive in our salary. Our benefits not only include insurance and life insurance, but a pension."
There is a hiring event Thursday at Rend Lake College in Ina from 9 a.m. to noon.
Another will be held April 26 at the West Frankfort Aquatics Center.
