Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in Herrin

A group of law enforcement agencies is investigating the discovery of a dead body in Herrin.

Early Monday morning, the Herrin Police Department reports it received a report about the dead male body in the 100 block of South 12 Street.

Herrin Police are being assisted by the Williamson County Major Case Squad, Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators.

The Herrin Police Department says this is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
