Nearly 100 young anglers joined LiUNA Local 773 and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance for Take Kids Fishing Day on June 21 at Herrin Park. Volunteers helped children fish, grilled hot dogs, and handed out free rods and reels to each participant.
The event, part of the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s Work Boots on the Ground program, helps introduce kids to the outdoors while highlighting the role unions play in local communities.
“This event makes a lasting impression,” said Local 773 Business Manager Jerry Womick. “It shows what unions can do beyond the jobsite.”
