A western Kentucky man is accused of killing a southern Illinois man at a Metropolis truck stop.

The Metropolis Police Department reports the victim is 41-year-old Samuel Stalions of Golconda.

36-year-old Jonathon Riley of Kirksey, Kentucky is charged with 1st degree murder.

Police say late Tuesday night, they were called to a fight in progress at the Acee’s Truck Stop in Metropolis, where officers found Stalions on the floor in the gaming room.

Video surveillance showed Stalions was pepper sprayed seconds before he and Riley began fighting.

Riley choked and then put his knee on Stalions' neck until he became unconscious.

Stalions was pronounced dead a short time later at Massac Memorial Hospital.
