The Jefferson Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating a vehicle that was involved in a deadly incident Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a report of an ATV involved in a crash with a motor vehicle at the intersection of North Markham Lane and East Short Street in Bluford at around 8:45 p.m.

They learned the crash involved a Kawasaki ATV and a 2018 Chevy SUV.

The driver of the ATV, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Montgomery of Bonnie, was ejected from the ATV and landed in the southbound lane of North Markham Lane. Seconds later, a third vehicle, described by witnesses as a dark sedan, traveling south on North Markham Lane, ran over Montgomery and continued south out of the area.

Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking help to identify the dark sedan that left the scene after striking Montgomery. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (618) 244-8004 or Crimestoppers at (618) 242-TIPS.
