Late Sunday night, Carbondale Police responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane for a disturbance.

As officers investigated, one individual fled and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. The suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

The suspect, 21-year-old Ambrose Godsey of Carbondale, did not possess a FOID Card and was found to be wanted on a Jackson County arrest warrant for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon stemming from an incident in Carbondale on April 17.

That incident involved reports of multiple shots fired in the area of South Poplar and West Freeman Streets. There were no injures, but damage to a building reported.

Godsey was arrested for the warrant and charged with additional charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer and Firearm Owners Identification Card Required.
