One of the suspects has been identified in a shooting incident Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane in Carbondale.

The investigation led officers to two individuals in a vehicle who had been involved in a disturbance and were alleged to have fired a gun. Officers identified one of the suspects as 36-year-old Manuel Cass of Carbondale. A loaded firearm was located in the vehicle the men occupied, and controlled substances were also discovered in Cass' possession and inside the vehicle. Officers took both men into custody without incident.

In the course of the investigation, a female arrived at a local hospital with a reported gunshot wound. She was treated for her injury and was released from the hospital.

Cass was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Officers did not charge the second suspect at this time and released him from custody. More individuals may be identified as suspects as this investigation continues.
