A vehicle took what law enforcement is calling the scenic route over the incomplete construction portion of the Interstate 24 bridge at Paducah.
At approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office were alerted by construction workers to a rather unusual sight: a vehicle stuck on the construction portion of the I-24 bridge.
Somehow, deputies say the driver managed to ignore multiple signs, barriers, and large flashing indicators basically saying "Don't Go This Way." They say those signs are there because entire chunks of the bridge deck are still missing.
The vehicle bounced over several gaps before reaching the literal end of the concrete, where it became stuck.
The driver of the vehicle has been cited for:
- Reckless Driving
- Disregarding a Traffic Control Device
- Disregarding Traffic Regulations
- Possession of Marijuana
Deputies say regular traffic on the bridge was not affected.
