The Barkley Regional Airport Authority Board will recommend SkyWest Airlines to provide commercial air service under the Essential Air Service program.
Flights will connect Barkley Airport in Paducah to two major hubs, Chicago O'Hare International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, with one-stop connections to 271 global destinations through a fully branded codeshare partnership with United Airlines.
Flights will be operated using a CRJ-550 aircraft, which features a pressurized cabin and 50-passenger seating.
The U.S. Department of Transportation will consider the Airport Authority Board's recommendation and make the final decision.
If approved, the new service will start this December.
