Scheduled safety inspections will close the U.S. 60/62 bridge over the Mississippi River at Cairo.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the bridge, which connects Alexander County in southwestern Illinois to Mississippi County in southeast Missouri, will be closed daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 15, and again from Monday, August 18, through Friday, August 22. These closure dates are weather permitting.
The work is necessary to perform the required annual safety inspection of the bridge.
IDOT says expect delays and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
