A Carbondale resident is accused of arson in connection to a structure fire late Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the 300 block of West Cherry Street for a possible arson in progress.

Officers arrived and found a piece of furniture, located next to the exterior side of the house, on fire, with the flames spreading to the residence. The family inside, which included several small children, was immediately evacuated while the responding officer began extinguishing the fire. The Carbondale Fire Department arrived and finished extinguishing the fire. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

During the investigation, officers arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Jory Brown of Carbondale, for Aggravated Arson.
