Carbondale Mayor Carolin Harvey, left, with newly appointed Council Member LaCaje Hill

LaCaje Hill will fill the unexpired term of Carolin Harvey, who was elected Mayor this spring

Carbondale's City Council has a new member.

The Council appointed LaCaje Hill to serve out the unexpired term of Carolin Harvey, who was elected Mayor earlier this year.

Mayor Harvey says she was impressed by Hill's dedication and passion for service - and that he'll help expand representation on the council.

"We have lots of young people here. Hopefully he'll be able to represent that segment of our community with some new ideas, and just keep us abreast of what's going on with the younger people within the city."

Hill is a Carbondale native. His term expires in April of 2025.

Jennifer Fuller joined Capitol News Illinois in July 2023 as the organization’s broadcast director. She will oversee the launch and operations of CNI’s new broadcast division.
