A longtime deputy circuit clerk is throwing his hat into the ring to become the next Circuit Clerk of Jackson County.

51-year-old Christian Hale Wednesday announced he is seeking the office.

Hale has spent 13 years as the deputy clerk, which he says makes him the ideal candidate to lead the office.

Hale is endorsed by current Circuit Clerk Cindy Svanda.

Prior to entering public service, Hale spent more than a decade operating in the press including time at the Murphysboro American newspaper.
