A southeast Missouri man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in deep southern Illinois.
Illinois State Police say 65-year-old James Bruenderman from Charleston, Missouri was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Route 127, just south of Elco in Alexander County.

Troopers say Bruenderman was heading south on the highway Tuesday afternoon while a vehicle driven by 34-year-old David Berry of Willisville was traveling north.

For an unknown reason, Bruenderman crossed the centerline and hit Berry's vehicle head-on. Berry was not injured.
