A COVID-19 exposure has cancelled a summer camp at SIU Carbondale this week.
The Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois had planned a resident camp for this week, but a positive case during last week's camp at Touch of Nature limited the number of staff available to help this week.
The council says it was notified on Saturday of the positive case - and because of close contact with several staff members, they're unable to provide the camp leadership this week. Campers and staff members who were affected by the exposure have been notified, as well.
SIU Carbondale leaders say they're proud of their partnership with the Girl Scouts - and emphasized that COVID protocols were in place, including masking indoors and distancing where possible.
