April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The Poshard Foundation for Abused Children started in 1999 to heal abused children physically and emotionally and to stop the abuse of children.

WSIU’s Brad Palmer spoke with the foundation’s Jo Poshard about the need for awareness about this issue and its prevalence in southern Illinois.

There are various ways to report suspected child abuse or neglect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 800-25-ABUSE or the DCFS Online Reporting System.

As a news producer and news anchor on All Things Considered, Brad provides the listeners with a recap of the day's top local and state news as well as breaking news at any given time. Contact WSIU Radio at 618-453-6101 or email wsiunews@wsiu.org
