A long-time southern Illinois mayor passed away this weekend, and the community is already setting plans to mourn his loss.
Seventy-eight year old John Rednour, Sr. died Sunday. He'd served as mayor of DuQuoin for more than two decades before stepping down earlier this year for health reasons.
Rednour had served as a county commissioner, chairman of the state's Democratic Party and as a member of the Illinois State Police Merit Board.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, two daughters and a son.
Visitation for Rednour will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 and again Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in DuQuoin. A funeral will be at 11:00am Wednesday.
The Perry County Courthouse and Government Building will be closed Wednesday from 10:00-2:00 for the funeral, and local and state dignitaries are expected to work around this week's Special Session in Springfield to attend the funeral on Wednesday.
