The Board of Regents at Murray State University has named a new president.
Eastern Oregon University President Bob Davies will become Murray State’s 13th President. MSU’s Board of Regents unanimously selected Davies Wednesday after a months long search that yielded two finalists. Board Chairman Deno Curris says Davies’ attitude and desire to be MSU’s next President were part of the reasons the board selected him: "His interpersonal skills really struck the committee very well. And the fact that he had been a very successful president.”
Curris says he's optimistic about the working relationship the board will have with Davies. Board relationships were at the heart of former MSU President Randy Dunn’s dismissal.
Davies will earn $300,000 annually and is scheduled to take office July 14th .
Randy Dunn takes over about that same time as the new President of Southern Illinois University. Dunn served briefly as the president of Youngstown State University in Ohio following his departure from Murray State.
