In a little more than two weeks southern Illinois will be the hot-rod capitol of the country...
The Street Machine Nationals return to Du Quoin on June 26th.
The "Nats" returned to southern Illinois in 2013 after a 14-year absence. Since its return, organizers say, the car show is much more family friendly.
District-13 State Police Trooper Joey Watson says they will be enforcing all local ordinances.
"Camping will only be allowed on the fairgrounds, public indecency will not be tolerated, cruising on public streets is allowed as long as all traffic laws are obeyed."
Watson also suggests having a designated driver if you plan to be drinking.
The Street Machine Nationals takes place June 26th through the 28th at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The car show is expected to remain in southern Illinois through 2017.
