ON THIS DAY in 1959 Hawaii becomes the 50th US state

Locally,

Memorial Hospital of Carbondale’s Mission and Values team is hosting a Trivia Night fundraiser on Friday, August 30th at Route 51 Brewing Company in Elkville. Doors open at 6pm, with trivia starting at 7. There will be prizes for the winning team, and a prize for the best table decorated. The Mission and Values Team supports events for employees of the hospital as well as community outreach.
 

The 3rd Annual Saluki Women's Weekend is September 19-21. the exciting lineup includes an opening reception, empowerment conference & a Saluki Tailgate. In Carterville, The Anne West Lindsay Library hosts a True Crime Book Club each Wednesday 5:30pm – 6:30pm for Teens and Adults. Read and discuss real-life crime stories voted on regularly by the group. Learn more at www.awlindsey.com
