Locally, Herrinfesta Italiana is hosting a Pickleball tournament May 26th from Noon to 6pm. This will be a half-day tournament that will be held at the Herrin City Park outdoor pickleball facility with Age & Skill Divisions in Coed Doubles. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each event. This event is a fundraiser for Herrin High School FBLA. Proceeds will help fund their participation in their upcoming National Leadership Conference. Registration ends Friday. Shawnee Detachment 812 Marine Corps League & Auxillary continues the "Marine Rose Program” and a coordinated Veteran Food Drive which supports the Veterans’ Food pantry at the Marion VA Medical Center. The rose offering and food collections will be held at Carbondale Kroger on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 from 9am to 5pm both days.
