ON THIS DAY in 2022 Gymnast Simone Biles aged 25, becomes the youngest person to receive the US Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden.

The Carbondale Public Library invites you to their summer reading program finale with a foam party July 18th @ 3pm. The library garden will be transformed for foam, bubbles, and more. Bring a towel, goggles, and clothes that can get wet.

xNew Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprising SIU faculty, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service at Epiphany Lutheran Church, in Carbondale, at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 13th led by Pastor Brian Coffey. Join Illinois Extension Master Naturalists Patti Powell and Beckie Wisdom as they travel to libraries in Union, Johnson, and Massac counties this summer offering Discovering Dragonflies – Nature’s Flying Acrobats, a free youth library program. Children will explore the world of dragonflies through a story, crafts, and activities. This one-hour program is designed for youth ages 6 and up. Stinson Memorial Library in Union County is July 15 10:00-11:00.
