2025 Southern Illinois Star Party-Saturday, Sep 27, 5pm - 11pm
The star party is at University Farms Astronomy Observation area.A limited number of onsite parking permits will be available. Otherwise, a free shuttle will be running every 15 minutes from SIU campus lot #63 at the corner of Chautauqua and Oakland streets.This family friendly event offers guided telescope observations, astronomy activities and more.

Mt Vernon Fall Fest is this Friday (5:00 PM–10:00 PM) and Saturday (9:00 AM–10:00 PM) Theme: Small Town, Common Ground, inspired by The Commons, downtown’s newest gathering space. Traditions Include: Parade, live music (local to national acts), car show, kids zone with laser tag, vendor marketplace, food & drink courts, beer/wine tent, and more.
Mt. Vernon Festivals, Inc. is proud to debut a new event at this year’s 13th annual the 1st Annual James Ware Memorial Drumline Showcase, scheduled to follow the Deaconess Illinois Crossroads “Small Town, Common Ground” Parade on Saturday, September 27 at The Commons stage in downtown Mt. Vernon. Participating ensembles from middle, junior high, and high school bands will transition directly from the parade into a high‑energy, crowd‑pleasing showcase on the main stage, featuring cadences, solos, and spirited routines. 1:30pm parade & drumline to follow

Saluki Spooktacular Homecoming Blood Drive is coming up on Tuesday, October 14th in the Student Center Renaissance Room on the SIU Campus.
Donations can be made from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Donors will receive a free SIU Homecoming Blood Drive t-shirt while supplies last.
